I'm sure many of you have noticed by now that this game is sorely lacking in a pure damage dealer. Especially in the magic department. Time to change that, and when I say change I mean game play altering change.
Bleu is easily the strongest character in the game in terms of overall usefulness.
Here is her blurb:
Bleu is easily the strongest character in the game in terms of overall usefulness.
Here is her blurb:
"The mysterious indigo warrior is a master of attack spells. She is a good character to have on the offensive. Bleu can also cast spells that will take your party out of dungeons and transport the group to different destinations. She will join your party late in the adventure. "
Right off the bat the manual tells you exactly what you should be doing with Bleu. Casting spells, and doing so with great frequency. She has a ton of AP and boasts some of the best spells in the game, including multiple enemy targeting elemental attacks.
She isn't part of any fusions, and has only one other character to compete with for AP recovery. She levels up at a ridiculous rate, and has a small smattering of support spells too.
To give you an idea of what she is all about here is a quick run down of her starting spells when she joins your group:
Exit, Flare, Spark, Cold, 3.5, Para, Bomb, Sap, Warp, Rub, Flame, Fry, Frost, 5.5, Boom
That's 15 spells. She starts with 15 spells. She learns another 16 spells as you progress through the rest of the game. That's insanity. She has 31 spells by level 40, while poor Nina only manages 23 spells by level 46, and none of those are pure attack spells.
Bleu is an absolute monster when it comes to dishing out damage. She'll be regularly dealing around 300 to 400 damage per round during the final dungeon. She maxes out her AP fairly quickly and she has a piece of equipment that can be used to cast Cold for free in a pinch.
Speaking of gear, Bleu can equip the Angle Armor which gives her an absolutely devastating counter spell to use whenever she is hit with an enemy spell. Add an Echo Hat and she will be a counter spell machine, with a rate of nearly 50% and a damage reduction rate of nearly 80%, based on her godly Magic stat.
Your best bet is to place her in the back row, give her some counter spell gear and never look back. Bleu is almost an "I win" button in this game, and you might find yourself wanting to hold back on casting spells later in the game just to give some of the difficulty back.
Of course, if you want a real challenge you could always make our final cast member the leader of the team and place him in the front row. Next time we'll meet Mogu, who likes to dig, and may or may not be looking for his lost courage.
Thanks for reading and see you folks then.
