He's the big bad wolf and he's got his hunters eye trained right on you. Ever wanted to be the coolest guy in the room? Bo has never had that problem. Bo knows cool, and Bo knows a few other tricks too. But first, let's have the manual tell us about Bo.
Here's his manual information:

" This member of the party is a creature of the forest. When he leads the group, he can use his bow and arrow to hunt down animals in the field. Press the A button to shoot an arrow. He can also guide the group through areas with tall trees. "
"When Bo leads the party, you can explore the woods."
"Bo's bow can be used to hunt creatures for food and items."

Bo is, without doubt, one of the most useful characters in the game. He's fast, can cast both offensive and healing spells, and can hunt on the field, which is the easiest way to keep your inventory stocked with free curative items and make a little money on the side.
In combat, he is very versatile, being able to deal the same damage from the back row thanks to his long range weapon, and being able to cast elemental damage spells as soon as you get him. The downside is that he doesn't learn any more spells for the rest of the game. Guess he figures he doesn't need to with Nina around.
The biggest knock on Bo is his defense. It's pretty bad, and a lot of that is the result of his not being able to equip a shield for all but two of his weapons. His armor selection is pretty bad too, and the one decent piece he gets early on, the WolfHt, is actually cursed to make him take almost twice as much damage as he usually would. Of course, that isn't mentioned in the game anywhere, so most players assume he has a garbage defense by default.
With a few tweaks, Bo is a good addition to the team in most situations, and depending on personal preference may be present the majority of the time. His speed is a major asset, Bo is so fast that he is the only character to outpace Nina when casting a Cura spell. Nina will go first when casting in any other situation.
Bo's biggest boon is his hunting ability. He can track down those stray animals you see pop up on the world map from time to time and doesn't have to rely on the "corner them until they explode" trick that Ryu must use early on. He's also the best way to hunt down birds, which drop the useful W.Meat that restores 150 health for the entire party.
Bo is a rock solid party member, and will be used from the point you get him until you finish the game, in some form or fashion. Being a part of Karn's transformations helps in that respect as well. But we will learn more about the shifty thief next time.
Thanks for reading folks, see you in the next one.
