Ever find yourself in a tight spot with no way out? Boxed in on all sides, and escape is your only option? I've been there, and sometimes, the smallest member of the crew is the one who makes the biggest difference.
Let's get a look at Mogu and what he is all about from his blurb:
Let's get a look at Mogu and what he is all about from his blurb:
"This little warrior has big claws which will prove to be a real help when you want to go underground. Mogu is a good digger with a flair for adventure."
Succinct, as usual, but it cuts to the core of what Mogu is all about. He has the useful battle ability Dig, which allows escape from almost all situations (excluding boss fights, obviously). He can also use those claws on the field map to dig up items. Whenever you spot a dragon mark on the ground, chances are you'll find a treasure under it.
Beyond those two uses, Mogu shines in battle as a capable off tank. His ability to wear heavy armor despite his small size helps him serve as a good compliment to Doof or Ox, depending on your preference.
Equipment wise, Mogu doesn't get much. That's likely a result of his being the last member to join the active party in the game. It helps to give him a Mask Shield and an Earth Robe. That combination allows him to counter spell and recover HP when hit with an elemental spell. Plus, the high defense score is always a bonus. A Gaia Mask is the best choice for helmet, since it helps him keep his weight down and doesn't further impact his speed like a Stone Helmet would.
Offensively, be sure to use the Icy Claws, either as an equipped item or as an inventory item. Mogu can really just attack and use items, so you want to go for the best damage output you can here. His limited choices make that a toss up between the Icy Claws and the Myst Claws, if you can find them, that is. The Myst Claws have one of the highest pure attack scores in the game, and coming in at a stunningly light 1 pound, allow Mogu to keep his speed, such as it is.
There you have it folks, the complete cast of Breath of Fire. Check back next time for the beginning of the walk through articles.
